The Wedding
A conventionally managed engagement will be consummated with a wedding, letting the outside world know that a knot has been tied. In the process of customer retention, this is the stage when the purchaser is encouraged to communicate to others their brand advocacy.
However, marketing managers are not necessarily made in heaven. They may flourish as a result of a continued and thoughtful enticement but they may also wither as a result of simply taking the purchaser for granted. Just like real life! Many brands choose bribery to keep purchasers loyal. Coupons and discounts are discourteously thrown at the marriage partner as though they were a prostitute offering themselves for hire. Where a careful and solicitous seduction is not attempted, the resulting decline in the relationship is assured.
